Timber floors are now much more feasible in apartment buildings as a result of acoustic underlay. Local building and Body Corporate regulations will often make this a pre-condition to installation of any timber floor.
A reconstituted rubber product such as ‘Regupol’ available in various thicknesses is the product we like to recommend. This product has proven acoustic value and reduces noise penetration to the floor below.
Other granulated or foam products are also available and are used in the same way by gluing to the concrete sub-floor. Often a layer of plywood can then be installed followed by the T & G Timber or parquetry floor.
