Most timber floors can be stained to achieve a colour effect to match personal preference. Dark walnut or black japan stain are very popular currently, especially on European or Tasmanian Oak.

Alternatives are mahogany ( red/mauve), cedar (yellow), American oak (mid brown) etc. Another effect is liming which can be applied to a bare or stained floor to give that familiar ‘milky’ look. Staining a floor is much more difficult than staining a piece of furniture and should only be attempted by our expert tradesmen.
